Carlton T. Mayers II, Esq. facilitated a Know Your Rights: Sunshine Law Request (FOIA) workshop hosted by the 11th and 15th Police District Councils earlier this year. Held at the Rutués Center for Business & People Development on West Madison, the session walked residents through how to use public records laws to obtain information, strengthen transparency, and hold agencies accountable. Mayers guided attendees through drafting requests, understanding responses, and leveraging FOIA as a community-empowerment tool.
